Kodenchery; Thusharagiri always attracts tourists of all kinds and from all over the world with its matchless beauty and charm. The flow of tourists –especially those who love adventure, is expected to rise in the coming one month. Well the reason is nothing other than the Malabar River Fest in Thusharagiri. The event was inaugurated by Kerala Tourism minister Mr. A.P Anilkumar who later traveled on the boats, with water rafting experts.
There is no doubt over the amount of adventure you will have at this spot. However, the most important attraction of this Malabar River Fest would be nothing other than the facility for White Water Rafting. It would be a great experience for everyone to raft down the River Chaly (Chaliyar).
Special arrangements are made for the tourists to witness Traditional art forms of Kerala like Kathakali and others. Elephant ride is another important item that is to attract foreign tourists.
Competitions are held on June 24, 25 and 26 under various sections like kayak sprint, boater cross, free style and Mass cross. Water sport experts from countries like the USA, Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Korea, China and Scotland will participate in these competitions. The winners will get Rs.5 lakh cash price.
While inaugurating the event, the minister said that Kerala has wide opportunities in adventure tourism and events like this would help improve Kerala’s chances in it. An amount of Rs.10 lakh was offered to conduct the event.
The event was presided by C Moinkutty MLA. Eminent personalities like Kayaking Academy Chairman V D Joseph, block Panchayat vice president Annie John, Thiruvambadi Grama panchayat president Eliyamma George, Tourism Joint Director P G Sivan, adventure tourism promotion society CEO Asha Jose, etc. were present on the occasion.
